Independent living can also mean developing a schedule of activities that you would like to do and the way you want to do them.

Participating in social activities may require planning. How far can you drive to go shopping? How many steps would you take to get yourself a loaf of bread? How long would it try eat that loaf? The solution to these questions may require a great deal of planning and effort.

In addition, planning is necessary for health. The actions that you plan to accomplish may involve a variety of activities, mental activities or both. To become mentally healthy, you have to do some thinking, particularly active thinking, also to do some creative things, such as for example painting or writing.
